папки с xp на виста и вис верса

in any way . i have 2 computer , one desktop(with xp) and the other laptop(vista), i have to throw some files from xp to vista (size more than 20 gb) so i connect them throw a wire with jp45 /in the two computer ,the network setting is the same (same IP. same parameters). so i have 2 problems-
1 -In the xp,i can see his shared file by entring \\ x.x.x.x but in the vista i already maked same file as shared file but by entring \\ x.x.x.x .appear same message about error or wrong directory,
2 - the xp can`t see the shared file from vista and the same for vista he can`t see the shared file from xp

please help me to resolve this problem or if there`s another way that alow me to exchange file between two computers. thanks alot for all.

1. Good crossover cable [rj-45] - see picture:

2. Just go to the TCP ip settings of the PC1 and give the
IP address: 10.1.1.1
Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 10.1.1.2

Just go the TCP Ip settings of the PC2 and give the
IP address: 10.1.1.2
Subnet mask:255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 10.1.1.1

Just connect both lan using the system RJ45 connector and ping 10.1.1.2 from your PC1, then ping 10.1.1.1 from your PC2. If you get the replyes both the systems are connected really.

No, DNS does not require a change,for you unirank local network which a sluice and dns server is not in...if you whant link two comp`s, in properties tcp\ip type:

1 comp: For example 192.168.0.1 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
2 comp: 192.168.0.2 subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Then press start->run and type ping(on first comp) ping 192.168.0.2
and if in reply will come that look like it: Answer from xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx a number is a byte=xx time=xx.... then local are network is work correctly...
if you see that other then a network is adjusted not correctly...
Check your connection cable...
Check two computers are in one network surroundings...
And last, if you dont use the switch cable must be wrung out the type of crossover.
